22 Apr / Tax Season Recap
The 2014 filing season is over as I write on Earth Day 2014 this tax season recap. I have some optimism from the season which saw small business owners seeing increased revenue, employee’s receiving cash and stock bonuses and clients starts to put more money away for retirement. I have also seen less clients with cancellation of debt issues and very few foreclosures.
An while I feel our firm is getting better and responding to client needs during “crunch time”, I suspect that other firms have problems. We had a very successful because of many factors including: good seasoned staff, great interns, a better client mix and a our new client “web portal” that produces an cloud version of a clients tax return. This allows the client to more efficiently review their return before packaging their return for mailing. Clients general liked it and it saved us time, paper, toner and stamps.
However from the phone calls we have received from many taxpayers since the April 15th deadline, not all practitioners are satisfying the needs of their clients. Many taxpayers are calling looking for a new adviser because their current accountant “does not return our phone calls”.
Not a problem at Schultz & Associates, CPA. And that is our tax season recap.
