Policies for the 2025 Tax Return Filing Season
Document Submission & Security
- We cannot accept tax documents or returns via email. Please upload them to our secure portal or deliver them to our office.
- We cannot accept photos of tax documents. Please submit items as PDF, Word, or Excel files.
- We are unable to access shared Dropbox folders.
Appointments & Meetings
- Beginning January 1, consultations must be scheduled in advance.
- We can no longer accommodate unscheduled walk-in requests or meetings.
- If you need an explanation of a tax balance due, you may be asked to schedule an appointment so we can review your information thoroughly.
- If you would like to discuss the results of your tax return, please schedule an appointment to pick up your return.
- If your primary contact is unavailable and your matter is time-sensitive, another knowledgeable staff member will be happy to assist you.
Drop-Offs & Pickups
- You are welcome to drop off or pick up paperwork and tax notices without an appointment.
- If you notice a correction is needed during an unscheduled pickup, an accountant will assist you.
- If you notice a change while reviewing your return at home, please email or call your preparer; they will determine whether an in-person meeting is needed.
Processing Timeline
- If more than 50% of your tax documents are received after March 25, your return will be placed on extension. In this case, we will not be able to estimate any tax balances due for April 15.
- Please allow at least 15 business days before inquiring about the status of your return.

Review, Corrections & Filing
- If you have questions or notice a correction is needed, please notify us within 2 business days of receiving your return.
- Please return Form 8879 as soon as possible, even if you plan to pay later. Filing and payment are separate processes.
- To confirm receipt of your Form 8879, email 1040services@schultz-cpa.com.
Fees & Payment
- Please settle your invoice when you pick up your return, or include payment with your Form 8879 if mailing it.
- Returns for minor children or full-time undergraduate students are billed at $150 per child.
Recommended Timeline for Early Filers’
- If timely filing causes you stress or anxiety, we recommend submitting all tax documents by March 5.
